JOHN ANTHONY STANIGER

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Rupp Funeral Home & Cremation Service Chapel with Rev. Steve Breitbarth of Grace Lutheran Church in Chisholm officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Private family inurnment will be in Chisholm Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Rupp Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Chisholm.

John Anthony Staniger, age 86, of Chisholm, died Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Heritage Manor Health Care Center in Chisholm. He was born August 10, 1923 in Chisholm, MN. He was a graduate of Chisholm High School and lifelong Chisholm resident.

John was united in marriage on November 21, 1950 in Chisholm to Helen M. Herendeen. John worked as a drill operator for US Steel for 35 years, retiring in 1971. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an Army Veteran of WWII.

Survivors include his sons – John (Rosalind) of Chisholm; Tom “Ace” (Carol) of Side Lake; Mark of Esko, MN; one brother – Ed Staniger; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife – Helen and daughter – Josephine Marie Staniger.
